Lust List

Lack of a job (which has just changed) meant I had waaaay too much time on my hands. As a result, my lust list increased in size which is not great for obvious reasons. But I thought I would share some of it with you guys:
1.     White Ipad 2 – It’s a strange kind of love. I hate the look of the white Iphone, yet there is something about the white Ipad that just makes me… oooh… I dunno… I’m just in love with it! It’s so feminine and dainty looking.
2.     Michael Kors Watch – I first saw this on Milkbubbletea’s blog and instantly fell in love. I’ve been on the hunt for a ‘beefy’ gold watch for over a year now and I think I have finally found the one! I love the simplicity of the watch – it’s big, but not too big, and the gems really make the watch, as they add that bit of sparkle. This will definitely be a treat to myself once I get my paycheck!
3.     Violent Lips – Ever since stumbling across these over a year ago I have wanted to try them, but have yet to buy myself a pair. They are beyond pretty.
4.     Anything Topshop – With my bank balance being the way it is at the moment it has meant I have had to cut down on my spending habits, meaning no Topshop for me L
5.     Festival Tickets – One thing I must do before I die is go to a festival, it just has to be done!
6.     Tripod – I know you can get these dirt cheap, but every time I have money I forget to buy one!

As you can see I have pretty expensive taste, yet don’t have the bank balance to match it. As my boyfriend said last night “expensive taste with the inability to save anything’ – he knows me too well…….. don’t know whether that’s a good thing or not. So, what do you think of my lust list? Please send your lust list links my way, I’m nosey!

THE Boots

I have never really been a shoe girl, but as soon as I saw these beauts I just knew I had to have them in my life! I was out shopping with my mum at the time and she could tell how much I loved them, so she bought them for me for Christmas.

I am very much a rocker chick at heart and I feel these boots are perfect for that side of me. As silly as it sounds I actually haven't worn them yet as I am too afraid to ruin them, but I know in time they will be glued to my feet pretty much all the time.

You can purchase them here. In my opinion they are a bit on the expensive side, but I just had to have them. What do you think of them?

Happy New Year

Firstly, I wanna wish each and every one of you a happy New Year - I hope 2012 is treating you well so far. I can't quite believe 2011 has left us already, and I must say I was quite sad to say goodbye to it. It was the year I graduated from Uni, moved to Holland and back to the UK again, celebrated my 5th anniversary with my amazing boyfriend, and although it was short lived I had a proper job. I have absolutely no idea what 2012 will have in store for me, but I'm gonna make sure it's the best year yet!!

Now on to the 'serious' stuff - I have been a major fail at blogging over the past couple of months, and for that I am truly sorry. As I have already said I had a proper job and unfortunately that meant I had no time to blog as the commute was hideously long, so by the time I got home I was completely drained and ready for bed. I now have more time for myself which means time to blog - yippee! I have written up a list of products I want to review for you guys so I am ready to rock'n'roll. Until next time.

I hope you are all well.

FOTD

I have been debating whether or not to do a FOTD post for a while now. Reason being that every time time I go to post one I feel really vain doing so - that's not to say that I think beauty bloggers who do it are vain - not at all. I find FOTD posts are a great way to showcase what makeup brands are truly like on the everyday person, and you gain an insight into new ways of using make-up. I've just always felt self conscious about doing one, but I have finally decided to take the plunge. I thought today would be as good a day as ever to start since I am trying out a new lip colour and would love to hear your thoughts on it.

So here goes... my first FOTD.

Eau Thermale Avรจne Cleanance
M.A.C Pro Longwear Concealer in NC20
M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid in NC40
The Body Shop Bronzing Powder in Shade 03
M.A.C Sheertone Blush in Pinch O' Peach
M.A.C Studio Fix Powder in NC30
M.A.C Fluidline in Blacktrack
L'oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes (Luminizer Blue Eyes)
MUA Lipstick in shade 13

I'm not really sure if the red lipstick suits me or if it makes me look more like a circus act. What do you reckon? Are you a fan of red lips in general?

I will be doing a full review on MUA's lipstick soon.

I hope you are all doing well.

Side note -  I have placed the products in order of application.

No Longer A Fake Bake Virgin

I am a girl who loves a bit of fakerage, especially when it comes to tanning, and for almost 4 years now I have stayed loyal to Garnier Summer Body Lotion. Ok, so it's not quite a fake tan, but it leaves me with the desired effect. The best part is that it gives me an even coverage that lasts for over a week after just one application. However, for the past couple of weeks I have been working at the PR company who looks after Fake Bake, and they said I could take home some goodies. So I decided it was about time I tried 'real' fake tans rather than moisturisers. I opted for Fake Bake's Original formula as I wanted something that would last - I do not want to waste my time on something which will only wash off in the morning!

Without further ado here are the before and after shots:

I prepared the skin by exfoliating with Fake Bake's Passion Fruit Body Polish a few hours before applying fake tan. After this the instructions say to just use it once a week to keep your tan looking it's best.

You get two very attractive looking blue gloves to apply the fake tan with, but after a couple of times of using them I found that the tan started to streak more. I'm guessing it's because of build up from the previous usages and they had started to stretch a lil' but I can't say for sure.  Once I started using a mitt though I found it real easy to apply and it hasn't streaked since - Yay!

I am pretty impressed with Fake Bake's coverage, however quite a bit did wash off in the shower the next morning so you do need to re-apply a few days in a row to gain the right coverage - though to be fair to Fake Bake this is written on the care sheet that comes with the tanning lotion. Once you have achieved your desired colouring you only need to apply once a week in order to keep your tan looking luscious.

I should add that it does have a distinct fake tan smell. My boyfriend described it as 'a tramp's BO'... I'm not too sure about that one!! I would say it's more of a musky sort of smell but it does disappear once you have a shower. For any of you who have a problem with the smell, I would suggest applying it before you go to bed at night to ensure that the tan has enough time to develop and then just shower in the morning - that way nobody has to know that you are faking it.

My overall opinion is that I will always love my Garnier Summer Body Lotion. However, Fake Bake will be my go to tanning lotion for a darker complexion and definitely gets my seal of approval.

I also got my hands on Fake Bake's Face formula which I will be trying out over the next week or so. I will let you guys know how I get on with that.

Fake Bake's Original formula can be purchased from here

Shellac Who?

I am wearing Black Tulip on my nails

On the second day of my work placement I was offered the chance to be a, well, I don't really know what you would call it, a hand model? Basically I had to make a mad dash across London to attend a meeting and have Gellux nail polish applied to my nails to show a possible client what it was like.

The Facts:
- Have you heard of Shellac? Of course you have... Well Gellux nails provide a new twist to this already extremely popular mani.
- Instead of curing the nail with UV it uses LED which means a faster application but without the compromise of lasting power
- The treatment is perfect for people like me who are 'hard' on their nails e.g. normal nail polish chips within two days
- The nail polish lasts up to 3 weeks before chipping occurs
- Gellux have 24 colours to choose from so you will be spoilt for choice! (check out the colour range below)
- It costs around £30

Up Close

Both pictures of my nails were taken 5 days after application, and as you can see there is no chipping in sight! I also love the way it keeps hold of it's glossy finish and the colour doesn't transfer when handling things such as paper. This mani would be perfect for special occasions and if you are going away on holiday.

The Gellux Colour Chart

My only complaint is that, unless you are trained in the removal of gel nails, you have to go back to a beauty salon in order to have them removed without damaging the nail.

Have you tried Gellux or other gel nail brands before? If so what do you make of them?

A Great Pick Me Up

A coral shade is definitely my go to nail varnish colour during the summer months and has been for at least two years now.

Since it has been pretty dull and depressing these last couple of weeks I decided to cheer myself up by painting my nails coral... little things please little minds as they say...

Collection 2000 - Tutti Fruity

I can't seem to find the shade online, but I know that Avon does a similar one called Coral Reef.

What's your go to shade for summer OR winter (seeming as it's almost upon us)?

I have also exfoliated, shaved and prepped - ready to try out a new fake tan tonight... slightly nervous as I have never strayed from my trusty Garnier SummerBody Lotion. Lets hope I don't turn orange!!
